Ahead of his debut in the 2020 Masters Tournament, Victor Perez has announced his new initiative, GainsForGood, aimed at assisting the greater Augusta, Georgia, community and supporting its economic recovery amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The GainsForGood initiative will see France’s top golfer donate $1,000 for every birdie and $5,000 for every eagle he makes during the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Cub played November 12-15. Funds will be gifted to the CSRA COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund and administered through Community Foundation for the CSRA, who launched this emergency fund in conjunction with the United Way of the CSRA earlier this year.

A rising star of European golf, Perez chose to join forces with the Community Foundation for the CSRA due to its established community partnerships and ability to direct resources to enhance the quality of life for all residents of the Augusta region. The Community Foundation has focused on supporting organizations on the front lines of the pandemic serving the community’s most vulnerable populations.

Perez’s sponsors, Greyson Clothiers and Modern Golf, will be supporting the effort as well. Greyson Clothiers has designed a limited-edition logo on the left chest of the polos Perez will wear during the Masters to symbolize this charitable effort.  A collection of polos with this logo will be sold by both Modern Golf and Greyson Clothiers, with all proceeds going to the GainsForGood initiative.

In March, Augusta National Golf Club also partnered with the Community Foundation, announcing a joint contribution of $1 million to the CSRA COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.

“Augusta National Golf Club made a generous contribution to the Community Foundation at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and after learning more about their efforts, I realized very quickly why they chose this organization,” Perez, a European Tour winner and the World’s No. 36-ranked player, said. “I’ve been inspired by the European Tour’s Golf for Good initiative, and so I’m grateful for the opportunity to be able to do something like this with the support of several really strong organizations.”

“The impact of this pandemic continues to unfold, and we, along with our partners at United Way, are committed to providing resources now and for the foreseeable future,” said Shell Berry, President and CEO of the Community Foundation. “We are very grateful to Victor for his desire to bring much-needed attention and support to the populations in the Augusta area who are hurting the most.”

About the CSRA COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund

The impacts of the COVID-19 health crisis on our community are unfolding daily and have led to uncertainty around available resources for our most vulnerable populations. In response, the United Way of the CSRA and the Community Foundation for the CSRA  established the CSRA COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund with the intent to react quickly and efficiently to help those organizations and individuals most in need and, over time, respond to the longer-term impacts of this crisis. We have identified populations most at-risk for losing vital income to support their families, experience job loss, and of going hungry during events such as school closures. We will work with and through our nonprofit and community partners to provide critical services and support and where necessary, provide direct assistance to individuals and families.
