For 30 years, the roots of the Community Foundation for the CSRA have run deep throughout Augusta and the surrounding region. We have faithfully connected the philanthropic spirit of our community members with nonprofits and community initiatives across Richmond, Columbia, McDuffie, and Burke counties in Georgia, as well as Aiken and Edgefield counties in South Carolina. Everything we do is grounded in a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all residents of the CSRA; today and for generations to come.
We work to cultivate generosity by giving donors the tools and guidance they need to make a meaningful difference in our community. We strengthen nonprofits by connecting organizations to financial resources, training, and opportunities for collaboration, and we engage our community around the issues that matter most to our region. Whether you are a donor, advisor, nonprofit, or community member, we are here to help connect your passions with purpose and create lasting impact through philanthropy.
That commitment to service and stewardship is reflected in the Community Foundation for the CSRA’s accreditation through the Community Foundations National Standards® program, a rigorous certification process recognizing community foundations committed to excellence, accountability, and best practices in philanthropy. This voluntary accreditation demonstrates our ongoing dedication to operating with integrity, transparency, and sound governance while continuing to serve as a trusted philanthropic partner for our region.
To achieve accreditation, the Community Foundation for the CSRA underwent an extensive review process measuring compliance with 26 standards across six key operational areas, including donor services, investment management, grantmaking, administration, and governance. The National Standards program provides quality assurance and reinforces public trust in community foundations nationwide.
As we celebrate 30 years of serving the CSRA, this recognition reflects the strong foundation built alongside our donors, nonprofit partners, and community leaders. Together, we will continue cultivating generosity, strengthening communities, and investing in the future of the place we proudly call home.

Our History
In 1995, a group of business leaders decided that their desires to improve the community they loved would be best served by working together and the output of that decision was the creation of what we now call the Community Foundation for the CSRA. The group was very successful making the case for collective philanthropy and all the benefits of the community foundation structure.
About a year into their work, an anonymous gift gave the Foundation the footing it needed to flourish. Since that time, the Community Foundation has developed and grown right alongside our fast expanding and unique community here in the Central Savannah River Area.
We are bridge builders. We are a connection between various voices and concerns across our community – and a place where those pursuits can come together to learn about, fund and support each other for the good of all.
From this rich history – in two states – has grown a thriving and expansive region that includes everything from rural to urban concerns and everything in between. And the Community Foundation is here to help people, no matter their perspective, grow, prosper, and give back to the community they love.
