FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 26, 2026
During Military Appreciation Month, the Community Foundation is pleased to announce $30,000 in Grants to Veterans Service Organizations through the Forces United Fund.
This month, a total of $30,000 in grant funding will be awarded to United Way of the CSRA and Augusta VA Fisher House, two organizations committed to strengthening support systems for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Together, these organizations provide critical services that address housing stability, financial wellness, entrepreneurship, and family support during medical treatment, helping reduce barriers and improve quality of life for those who have served our country.
Through its Mission United program, the United Way of the CSRA offers comprehensive support services tailored to the evolving needs of veterans and military families. The Augusta VA Fisher House provides a vital “home away from home” for families of veterans and active-duty service members receiving care at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.
Together, these grants represent a coordinated investment in the well-being, resilience, and long-term success of veterans and military families across the CSRA.
The Forces United Fund, a field-of-interest fund held at the Community Foundation for the CSRA, supports charitable initiatives that align with the vision established by its donors. The Fund is dedicated to strengthening organizations that serve veterans, active-duty military personnel, and individuals facing crisis throughout the CSRA and surrounding region.
Grantmaking through the Forces United Fund occurs through both invitation-only and competitive funding opportunities through the Community Grants process. In some cases, the Community Foundation proactively identifies organizations whose missions closely align with the Fund’s priorities and invites them to apply for support. All proposals are evaluated based on alignment with the Fund’s purpose, demonstrated community need, organizational capacity, and potential for meaningful, lasting impact.
