Girls Incorporated A $12,650.00 grant to assist in the Outreach Program, serving 2,500 youth each year, that focuses on drug and alcohol abuse prevention, self-esteem building and conflict resolution. This program is primarily for youth who may not be able to attend activities at the club. Greater Augusta Arts Council A $5,350.00 grant to provide arts themed children's books for tutoring sessions, and ten violins for the instrumental music class, to further enrich the Artscape Program that serves children in the Richmond County Housing Development. Hale Foundation, Inc. A $12,650.00 grant to assist in funding the 30-day relapse prevention program that residents are required to attend. The program assists men over the age of 21 with alcohol and substance abuse problems, teaching them living and coping skills to assume responsibility to themselves and society. MACH Academy A $10,000.00 grant to assist with the Tutoring for Success Project, providing creative educational, technological and recreational activities to disadvantaged youth aged 6 to 18, in the May Park Community Center, and to implement the program at the Fleming Tennis Center. Museum Consortium A $15,000.00 grant to provide full access for Richmond County public school students and teachers to the educational resources of the Augusta Museum of History, Fort Discovery, Lucy Craft Laney Black Museum of History, and the Morris Museum of Art. Rape Crisis & Sexual Assault Services A $15,000.00 grant to provide enhanced victim services for rape and sexual assault victims, by organizing the response and process of intervention by coordinating efforts among health care providers, law enforcement, prosecutors and victim advocates. St. Vincent dePaul Health Center A $4,953.00 grant to expand the services of the Eye Clinic at the Health Center by purchasing the necessary equipment for glaucoma testing, and to pay for materials needed for the volunteer physician to produce eyeglasses. Safe Homes of Augusta A $10,844.00 grant to enhance the Community Awareness Program through the funding of the agency's quarterly informational/educational publication and Annual Report, allowing information to reach over 1,200 people in East Central Georgia. Silver Bluff Audubon Center & Sanctuary A $4,000.00 grant to assist in the development of interpretive trails, both walking and driving, at Silver Bluff, which is an official Discovery Stop along South Carolina's National Heritage Corridor. CSRA residents and other visitors will learn of the history, culture and natural resources of the area through the trail system. The Augusta Players A $5,000.00 grant to assist with the costs associated with the Artreach Theatre Program, specifically, special weekday matinees of the Augusta Players Mainstage productions presented to students throughout the CSRA. The Berry Children's Center A $10,000.00 grant to renovate and improve the play yard at the new location for the Berry Center, insuring the safety of and accessibility to the handicapped children by the installation of cushioned rubber matting on the surface of the play yard. Tuttle-Newton Home A $15,000.00 grant to help support and expand the program for the needy, that assists parents in accessing programs that meet a child's developmental needs, insuring that the children are living in safe environments, and are provided access to education, and therapeutic and recreational support.
